The Quest is an adventure series that is set in the Caribbean. It follows five Caribbean children, Tiana Webb and her four friends, who embark upon an epic adventure across the Caribbean to return three amulets to their rightful owners, the Peaceful Ones. These amulets hold significant benefits and value not just to the Peaceful Ones, but to the entire Caribbean.

Their adventure takes them on a mythical and magical journey across the Caribbean and encounters with scary folklore characters from different Caribbean countries.

The stories are Caribbean stories that feature characters that are peculiar to a single country but also those that are found in multiple Caribbean countries. In exploring these stories, readers not only learn about folklore characters from their own country, but also those found in other countries in the Caribbean. The Quest also provides an opportunity for the world to learn about these folklore characters, which form such a significant part of the culture of the Caribbean.
The Quest - The Golden Amulet combines the strong storytelling tradition of the Caribbean and fascinating folklore characters that are only found in this part of the world with new and emerging technologies that offer the opportunity to develop stories that are interactive. Readers get a chance to define the experiences and encounters that they have and control the direction in which they would like the story to go.

The idea of an interactive story is not new; this has been done in the past mainly through referencing page numbers at strategic junctures in the story. The Quest series takes it a step further by combining the idea of a branching story with technology. Additionally, The Quest series challenges the traditional view that books, unlike games, are linear and that the reader usually goes from one cover of the book to the other. In the 21st Century, that does not and probably should not be the case.
Technology provides the perfect opportunity to create products that cut across genres; books with gaming elements. Since games use stories as the basis for creating games, it’s only fair to return the favour.

One of the things that makes The Quest - The Golden Amulet different from traditional books is that it is a non-linear, branching story. Readers get to choose their own adventures. This means that at certain intersections in the story, readers are required to make decisions about which path to choose. The path selected will determine which Caribbean folklore characters readers encounter along the journey and define the experience that they have.
Therefore, two readers who read the same story can have completely different experiences depending on the path that they have selected. Additionally, the same reader can also have multiple experiences in the same book as they have the option to go back and select other paths to explore.
